Couple of wedding photos here.

Sorry for the no updates. I’ve been working hard to put together my visa application (a seven-page form and eleven supporting documents to prove that NO I AM NOT A UKRAINIAN MAIL-ORDER BRIDE), which has now been sent off to the British High Commission along with the requisite six hundred dollar fee and which is now, I’m confident, gathering dust at the bottom of some dedicated civil servant’s inbox.

So, yeah, married life is great. My husband is halfway around the planet, and I’m unemployed and living alone in my parents’ basement in the suburbs. My forward progress in life is questionable.

Being back in Canada is a bit of a culture shock, too. All of a sudden ‘cheers’ doesn’t mean ‘thanks’ anymore; I have to look left instead of right when I cross the street; and the first floor is the first floor and not the second floor. And I’d forgotten some of the more egregious drawbacks of life in Canada: the men, for example, wear baggy shorts, baseball caps, and chunky bead necklaces (GAAAAH!), and bars are full of people playing VLTs and listening non-ironically to John Cougar Mellencamp.

It’s going to be a very long summer. Thank God for the World Cup.
